NIGELLA LAWSON/Forever Summer/GREEN Nigella Lawson dips into her family's cookbooks and even literature for mint-related recipes to instantly evoke hot-shouldered summer. Whether adding a pungent, herby background to a squid salad or bringing a fresh tang to a traditional gimlet, made with vodka and gin, mint has the ability to transform whatever it touches. Nigella also looks at some food combinations so natural that you can't imagine someone having to invent them: Green Salad With Fresh Mint And Grilled Haloumi and a Corsican Omelette with goat's cheese. Other successful combinations include Courgette Fritters and Ceasar Cleopatra. Nigella also turns to the ultimate leftover food chicken for a Golden Jubilee Chicken, inspired by one of her maternal grandmother's recipes, and a epchicken, Parsley And Almond Salad. Finally there are Mint Julep Peaches, inspired by The Great Gatsby.
London: 29 November 2009 Flash Alert! Flash Alert! Flash Alert! Urgh weather again. It is late November so I cannot really complain. Horrible squally rain as I walk to Hilton Park Lane Hotel to catch the arrivals of the EA British Academy Childrens Awards. It is baftas for kids programmes. It is Sunday afternoon and after walking all the way no taxis for me - I arrived after four and found a few of the usual suspects in place. We wondered where all the action was. Happily we discovered we were standing at the wrong door and got in place in time for the arrivals. The move meant we even got some shelter from the weather too. Dusk fell and the lights went on to show off the traditional red carpet. The stars and celebs arrived and were happy to pose, sign and chat despite the chilliness. Celebs spotted: Helen mccrory Jake Humphrey Jason Isaacs Johnny Vegas Juliet Stevenson Ainsley Harriott Katie mcgrath Phylicia Rashad As usual, please let me know of omissions, errors and comments. Thank you. Original in AVCHD Copyright elizabethtoni 2009
